At some point, I certainly hope the Geico commercial with the camel gets old and passe. But at this point in time, let's just say, working at a middle school around a full moon and a Wednesday equals a natural disaster. All you here all day is, "Mike. Mike. Mike. Mike. What day is it? Huuump day!" That being said, a fairly genius commercial with all of the times its being referenced on other media outlets.
So, on to other Wednesday news. I have hope that this could be the other night of the week that I actually have a life (again interpretation in Holly world means that I would only watch a couple of hours of TV this night instead of six or eight...).
There are only four new shows tonight, and we'll start with the two on the alphabet network.
Back in the Game was no where on my radar until I started my research, and has since popped as one I'm looking forward to checking out. The premise involves three generations of baseball. James Caan (Scott's dad), and Maggie Lawson (yet, she'll somehow still be on Psych) play father and daughter who all they have in common is a shared love of the game of baseball. She's moved back to L.A. after a messy divorce and they are now living together and coaching her son's baseball team. Lots of Beverly Hills dysfunction to be made of on the team.
Super Fun Night brings "Fat Amy" to TV. Rebel Wilson, who is hilarious in just about everything she does, is now headlining her own show. She plays Kimmy, an attorney who just got a promotion. As a result, she's ready to take her two besties and start actually going out at night instead of staying in every night. I'm reading that it is no Mindy Project, and may not be around that long.
The CW has Tomorrow People, which has high school people with extraordinary powers that they are learning to get under control. The biggest thing I found in my research? The lead in this show is cousin's with the guy who plays Arrow (on at 8, and one of our faves from last year).
Last, but not least, is Ironside. Who knew that the Raymond Burr version was on 40+ years ago? I had it in the mid-70's myself. And he'll always be Perry Mason to me. Anyway, the #1 thing this version has going for it? Eye candy in the form of Blair Underwood. While a procedural, it is allegedly going to focus more on the emotions and the impact on those around the crime.
What I know about the other returning shows:
Nashville is going to continue to be super dramatic. Shockingly, no one died in the big car crash and Juliette uses the tragedy to boost her career. There's some plot twist coming involving Rayna's dad and the girls who play the daughters are now series regulars.
Modern Family may use the big Supreme Court decision to fuel some story lines, and don't forget, Gloria is pregnant.
Other than that, I feel I should mention the X Factor only in passing. I've never watched a whole episode, and that's not going to change anytime soon. Simon Cowell, blah, blah, blah, tight t-shirts, blah, blah, blah, get your friend's wife pregnant, blah, blah, blah... I'm just a little sad the the only Kardashian I can remotely stand now doesn't have a job and has a husband who is a literal crackho'.
That's it for Hump Day!
