Hey! How about that?! Don't tell Google, but when I run my blog on Firefox, I can add the grid. Phew. That's a much better deal for all of us.
Time for Tuesday.
Here we go.
Our only new show on the alphabet is American Housewife. My deep research shows mixed reviews. This one falls into the give it a chance category. It is about a family that lives in Westport, Connecticut and how the mom with three kids works to fit-in amongst all the perfection when they are clearly not. They live in Westport because one of their kids needs to be in the fab school system, while she works desperately to keep everyone normal. The actress is the sister from Mike and Molly and the husband is from The Drew Carey Show. If there is one thing that ABC comedies have proven over the years, they are worth checking out. Otherwise, nothing new on ABC. (Side note: Without my TV watching first born, I'm behind on all of my super hero themed shows. Bummer. Makes me miss him upon occasion.)
On the eye, Dinozzo is back as Bull. After leaving NCIS, Michael Weatherly didn't let any grass grow under his feet before he signed up to be sandwiched between his former franchise. All the reviews say to let this one pass. Weatherly essentially plays Dr. Phil McGraw (an executive producer) as someone who works as a trial consultant.
CW has one new offering, No Tomorrow. With a female protagonist, this fills out one half of CW's programming model--(if not a female fluffy lead, then it is a superhero theme). Anyway, in this show a procurement manager falls for a guy who lives everyday as if it is his last. They go about fulfilling their bucket lists. It is a give a try show.
Nothing new on FOX...move along here. That being said, I love their two comedies. Ha-larious. I'm moderately surprised Scream Queens has lived to see another day.
NBC has my one of my top three shows I'm looking forward to this fall. As is everyone else. The buzz on This Is Us is large. There is a twist at the end of the pilot that no one is spoiling, so I'm really looking forward to the twist. The basic premise is that it is about five people who share the same birthday. We have the couple expecting triplets (Jess from Gilmore Girls and Mandy Moore--he is the one with the birthday); the large girl who is the personal assistant to her star brother, who pulls a Jerry Maguire on set (they both have the same bday, I think); and then they guy who is tracking down his biological father (played by Sterling K. Brown who won an Emmy last night playing Christopher Darden in the OJ movie--his acceptance speech was so intelligent--I fell in love with him instantaneously). Anyway, as someone who never watched Parenthood--yes, I know--this is the show looking to fill those empty shoes.
Not on the calendar is another show that is receiving really positive reviews. Premiering two weeks ago, Donald Glover's Atlanta is about a guy managing his cousin's up and coming rap career. Billed as a dramedy, the beauty about TV in today's times is you can get caught up easily.
And because Chrome and I didn't get along yesterday so well, here is Monday's calendar with a few clarifications.
The reviews are saying give Conviction and Timeless a try--one fills a nice crime procedural void and the other offers some Sci-Fi intrigue/drama, while the two CBS comedies are a big pass.
