TV. Tacos. It must be Tuesday.

Yes, I finally got around to watching the Emmys. And while I shared the link to the Atlantic article that touted Andy Sandberg’s opening number, here it is in all of its glory. Thus proving I should write professionally for television, because I’ve been saying for YEARS that there is too much television to watch:

But now it’s time to talk Tuesday:

Here’s what we know. Over at ABC, they are kicking off their night with the retooled Muppet Show. My only thought to this? I don’t want to live in a world where Kermit and Miss Piggy are broken up. It just doesn’t work for me. Even if Josh Groban is Miss Piggy’s new love interest.  Thus far reviews are being very middle of the road for this update. One thing that I read said that they could be trying to be too ‘adult’ in their content. It will be interesting to see. In case you missed the controversy from last year, “Fresh off the Boat” has some people up in arms—but apparently not enough to cancel the show. I watch Shield, but with my boy off to college that could become a marathon at a later date show. And I missed the May premiere of “Beyond the Tank,” which follows the entrepreneurs as they try to launch their businesses.

CBS + NCIS. Where would we be without this winning combination? I’m not sure the world would rotate on its axis if Gibbs wasn’t around on Tuesdays at 8. There is a new show on the eye, Limitless, which is based on the Bradley Cooper movie.  Cooper is an executive producer and appears in the pilot—he also says he will be in more episodes. The lead character is played by one of the guys from the show “Greek” and how he deals with knowing everything ever. He has a handler, works for the FBI, so you know, the usual. It’s on CBS, so you know it will be around for the full season.

Nothing new on the CW. Zach and I are huge “The Flash” fans, because, well, we are comic book nerds a bit. Emily and I both liked “iZombie” the few times we watched it, but it didn’t make it into our regular rotation. (Because too much TV.) I see a marathon at some point for iZombie. Even if the main character eats brains because she’s has to.

FOX has three new programs, and if you’ve been watching anything at all to do with this channel, you know that John Stamos and Rob Lowe are back. Yes. I’m excited by this too. In “Grandfathered,” Stamos finds out he’s a…wait for it…grandfather. And just in case you can’t get enough of Blackie, don’t forget the “Full House” reboot is coming soon to Netflix. After Stamos comes Lowe. “The Grinder” is about a man who played a lawyer on television for eight years. Which logically means he has enough experience to now be a lawyer back in his home town of Boise at his dad’s firm. Where his brother is a real lawyer. And annoyed at being upstaged. Yep, I’ll be watching this, not just because of Lowe, but because of Fred Savage and William Devane as well. (Side note: I may have to do a post just about Girl Meets World and my love of Ben Savage and Topanga.) Finally, Ryan Murphy has a new show—one in which Emily is so excited that I didn’t know she loved TV as much as she could—“Scream Queens.” Take a snobby sorority on a college campus, a slashing serial killer, and Jamie Lee Curtis, and you really do probably have a winning formula. As most of you know, we don’t do scary—at all—in our family. But I think this will be something we give a go, largely because of the witty and biting dialogue.  Not to mention the stellar cast and the pedigree of the production team.

Finally, there is the line-up from NBC. The night starts with “The Voice” result show. More chance for bromance and drooling over Adam Levine. Yay team! The new show at 9, now completing the Chicago trilogy from Dick Wolf, is on everyone’s watch list, “Chicago Med.” You’ll recognize many of the actors from the Law and Order stable as well, plus crossovers from Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. At 10 o’clock you have some NPH love. Labeled as the best party you’d ever want to go to, “Best Time Ever” is an unusual, fun, variety hour. Many of the segments are quick—like seconds long quick. It premiered last week, and I hope to catch it soon. I’m a huge NPH fan, so I can’t imagine that it won’t be enjoyable and fun. Eventually Chicago Fire will come and take the 10 o'clock spot. I have no idea, but at some point it will.

My DVR continues to steam with all of the TV it is recording. I best get home so I can watch last night’s bounty. J
